Dear fellow Indians,
One of the surest ways to destroy a thing is to particularise it. Did not get it? I explain.
Medicine is medicine whether it is Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, or Homeopathy. Each of them have their own strengths and weaknesses, and merits and demerits.
But the Indian governments, the laws, the education system and public policies, calls the Allopathic stream of medicine in generic term as “Medicine” without prefixing the adjective “Allopathy”, whereas all other forms are called by prefixing their respective names.
The full form of Allopathic MBBS degree, which has a Latin origin, is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Further, all allopathic medical colleges, institutes, universities, research bodies, and regulatory bodies etc do not have the word “Allopathy” in their names. The adjective ‘Allopathy’ is conspicuous by its absence in the nomenclature of all them giving an impression as if Allopathy is the mainstream medicine.
On the other hand, the full form BAMS is Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, wherein the word ‘Ayurveda’ is part of the degree certificate. Similarly, the names of all Ayurveda medical colleges, institutes, universities, regulatory bodies, etc contain the word ‘Ayurveda’ in them. So is the case with Homeopathy, etc.
Importantly, out of all the healthcare streams only Ayurveda (which includes Siddha) is indigenous to India, and therefore it alone qualifies to be the mainstream medicine, if at all any system of medicine is to be projected as mainstream in India.
If all the recognised systems of healthcare are scientific then how is that one is projected as mainstream and others as marginal?
If Ayurveda, Homeopathy, etc are not scientific healthcare system, then why does the government not ban them?
And if they are scientific, then why is it discriminating them by particularising, marginalising and neglecting them?
Further, why does the government consciously project Allopathy as the mainstream medicine by deliberately not using the adjective ‘Allopathy’ in the nomenclature?
For ensuring a level playing field, why does it not rename the degrees, institutes, colleges, regulatory bodies by including the adjective Allopathy in their names, just as it does for Ayurveda, Homeopathy, etc?
Particularising is the beginning of marginalisation and annihilation of a thing or a person. Let me give another example of how Indira Gandhi caused political death of Charan Singh, who was recently given Bharat Ratna posthumously.
To arrest the growing popularity of Charan Singh who was the then CM of UP, Indira Gandhi started calling him as a “popular farmers’ leader”, as he showed interest in farmers’ welfare even though he was not a farmers’ leader but a general leader. This made non-farmers think that he favoured farmers and did not bother about them. After a few years, she started calling him as a “senior Jat leader” as he was a Jat. This led to the impression among non-Jat farmers that he was not their leader. Thus, Charan Singh was reduced to a regional caste leaders by particularising him which led to his political marginalisation and irrelevance.
‘Particularising’ is the process of destruction of our indigenous knowledge systems like Ayurveda. The colonial British after planting the seeds of our destruction and germinating them, have left us long ago. The colonised Indians have been manuring and nurturing those plant of destruction. The colonial constitution and laws, the colonised Indian State and governments are the powerful weapons of destruction of Civilisational India, and its spiritual and knowledge systems. One such indigenous system that has been under multi-pronged incessant homicidal attack is Ayurveda.
#BabaRamdev, a Ayurveda and Yoga Guru, changed the playing field for #Ayurveda by establishing @PypAyurved in 2006. He is “the first spiritual guru who actually transformed symbolism into actual production. The indigenousness of Patanjali products positions them as authentic, and Baba Ramdev’s established knowledge and expertise on yoga and health issues adds credibility to the brand.” #BabaRamdev's strategy of focusing on the quality, purity and affordability of its products has worked successfully.
According to the Rural Establishment Survey conducted by Chrome Data Analytics that claims to cover over 200,000 villages with over 300 million consumers, 93 per cent rural households are aware of Patanjali products. Thus the playing field for Ayurveda has expanded tremendously after the entry of #BabaRamdev with his #PatanjaliAyurved. The back-to-the-roots mindset that Baba Ramdev has created made a significant mass of people prefer ayurvedic products as they associate a sense of patriotism in buying Patanjali products.
According to a report published by Kotak Institutional Equities, @PypAyurved has garnered a 4.5% market share in the toothpaste segment, while Colgate’s share dropped by 0.6% to 57.3%. #PatanjaliWellness has hit the MNCs and Allopathic Pharma companies where it hurts really.
Hence, they launched a concerted war on Baba Ramdev. For, since the beginning of this millennium Baba Ramdev has become the face of Ayurveda and its resurgence and popularity.
The colonised Indians in cahoots with the MNCs and Allopathic Pharma lobby are out to destroy Ayurveda by finishing off Baba Ramdev.
Therefore, my dear fellow countrymen, if you don’t fight for what is yours and what you love, don’t cry when it is lost.
